I come from a long line of cemetery walkers on my Mother's side. I have very early memories of holding my Grannie's hand as we hiked between the gravestones and being lifted up to look in the mausoleums.
I know that must sound somewhat macabre, but it really wasn't. It was the history and the mystery of lives gone past that enthralled us.
My sister and I continue the tradition and recently visited Riverside Cemetery in Denver. She wrote about it here.
One of the mausoleums now lies vacant. I'm thinking it would make a perfect studio, but that's not weird, right?

Thanks for posting about Riverside! Actually, the mausoleum you refer to has always been empty - though I've been told that it was once used to house bodies by the Denver Police Department. Spooky!
