How Sweet it is!

The book signing party for Willow May Goes to the Midnight Carnival was this weekend. Here's a picture of the cake before the carnage began.

Everyone seemed to have a good time. I did some face painting and we did Willow May tarot readings. I was surprised at how many people I knew took the time to drive to Denver. I have some special friends. Thanks!

And best of all after the signing there was a special "big cookie" just for the illustrator.

The carnival's in town!

This weekend is the book signing party for Willow May Goes to the Midnight Carnival. The writer asked if I'd make a poster they could hang up for it. Of course, I said yes. It's exactly the kind of carnival I'd love to go to. But then I'm a vampire kind of gal.

The dress on the left was done with Inktense watercolor pencils the sketch on the right with Prisma colored pencils. I glues two pieces of Arches hot-press watercolor paper in my moleskine sketch book. I didn't like the hot-press for the regular colored pencils.

How I did the texture

I'm not sure how to reply to individual comments so I'll just answer here. First THANKS for the comments.

The top two journal pages from below were done with acrylics. I put molding paste down first, then crumpled tissue paper. I put my acrylics over that. Then a little melted candle wax and more acrylics rubbed over that.

I really enjoy working with acrylics and need to do it more.
